Strömstad, the Summer Town, is located in a part of Scandinavia once simply known as ‘The Bay’. This area has been inhabited since the Early Stone Age. Join us on a journey through the historical periods that shaped Strömstad, including detailed descriptions of some important people through the ages. This trip departs from Lagunen’s pier throughout July!

This trip will take you on a journey through the historic periods that shaped Strömstad, including detailed tales of some important people through the ages. Learn about the timber site, Strömmen, which was built in the 16th century and how it after the Peace Treaty of Roskilde in 1658, when Bohuslän became Swedish, developed into a town. We will also touch on the period between the 1880s and 1920, which could be described as Strömstad’s golden age. Reasons included the stone industry, another herring era, and shipping. Please note that this guided tour must be pre-booked before 12 pm on the day of departure. Bookings must also be made for children under 6, as the boat has a maximum passenger capacity.
