Cycle and swim north of Strömstad
Lagunen is located just over 3 km from the bustling town of Strömstad, which offers both action-filled activities and relaxation all year round. The cycle path from Lagunen is a safe and simple way to reach the town. To the north of Strömstad you will find amazing beaches and experiences.
The Swimming Route north of Strömstad
The theme for this cycling route is to swim at different locations north of Strömstad. It is also an opportunity to discover a part of the town that usually attracts fewer visitors. Once you have completed the cycle path to Strömstad, you may feel ready for your first swim. Röudden, opposite the marina in Kebal, has nice rocks and a jetty.
The trip then continues further into the bay and to the SPA Hotel. This is a good place to stop for a drink or something to eat. From here, follow the road across the golf course. A few kilometres later, you reach Seläterbadet, which has a lovely sandy beach. Time for another dip!
The very best place to swim north of Strömstad is Capri. This will be your third and final dip on this cycle tour, which is suitable for all the family. Afterwards, follow the route through Strömstad and back to Lagunen at your own pace.

Which map application do you use?
Lagunen has decided to focus on three apps, which we find work well in our area. All have useful free versions available, although a paid subscription obviously means more features. You can also download the GPX file to your own favourite app. In addition, our reception sells a useful leisure map, scale 1:50,000.
- Viewranger: This app has a good user interface and useful map functions. Originally designed for hiking and navigating in forests and nature. Easy to create trips and plan routes. We use it mainly for hiking and trail riding. Integrates with Openstreetmap, which is very up-to-date in our area.
- Trailforks: This is home turf for trail riders. The app is a meeting place for anyone who enjoys cycling in woodland. Free maps make it easy to find good trail riding routes.
- Strava: This app has been around for a long time and has many users in our area. This means that it is very up-to-date and includes recommendations for both road cycling and mountain biking.

Stay near the archipelago of Strömstad
At Lagunen you stay right by the ocean, where the Strömstad archipelago begins. The site has lots to enjoy and discover. Will you spend the day exploring Strömstad, enjoying a boat trip on Kosterhavet, or relaxing and catching crabs from Mali’s jetty, right next to Lagunen’s own beach? At Lagunen you wake to the sound of lapping waves, shrieking seagulls and the sea breeze from Kosterhavet, which finds its way into the bay all year round – what time you wake up is up to you.

Bring your bike onboard the ferry
Lagunen is located just over 3 km from the bustling town of Strömstad, which offers both action-filled activities and relaxation all year round. The best way to travel from Lagunen to the Koster Islands is by bike, and the cycleway takes you safely all the way from Lagunen to the North Harbour, from which the ferries to Koster depart.
Go ashore on Sydkoster!
Bring your bike, for a fee, onboard the ferry. It will make it much easier to explore the Koster Islands. With your own bike, you are free to disembark or board from any pier. Start by disembarking at one of the three piers on Sydkoster. From there, you can reach all parts of the island by gravel roads. The island offers tasty meals and lots of memorable experiences. If you also want to visit the north island – Nordkoster – cycle to Långegärde, where you park the bicycles before catching either the cable-operated ferry or one of the bigger boats.
If you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one at Lagunen. Remember to choose an earlier departure time in the summer, when many people want to visit the islands. And don’t forget your swimwear!

The cycle trails on the Koster Islands are unmarked, but it is almost impossible to get lost.
Biking-package Koster!
When you book accommodation at Lagunen, you have the opportunity to book our bicycle package. The package means that in addition to the accommodation, you book a bicycle and boat tickets to Koster, one ticket for you and one for the bicycle. You also get map material and tips on where to bike at Koster and in Strömstad. The advantage of the package is that you can easily get in to Strömstad and out to Koster without having to think about where to park the car, or where to buy boat tickets. The price for the package is SEK 349 per person.

Lagunen is located just over 3 km from the bustling town of Strömstad, which offers both action-filled activities and relaxation all year round. Cycling is the best way to reach Strömstad. Whether you are planning to catch one of the ferries to the Koster Islands or simply want to enjoy what the town has to offer, the cycle path takes you safely all the way from Lagunen to the town centre. If you haven’t brought your own bike you can rent one at Lagunen.
Ride to the fishing harbour and buy a bag of prawns!
After a pleasant cycling trip you reach the ocean and can see the inlet to Strömstad. In the summer, this is a busy area when both Swedish and Norwegian pleasure craft visit our town. The passenger ferries from Sandefjord and Koster arrive here several times a day, all year round.
The first stop on this trip is the Fishing Harbour. Make sure to go all the way to the end of the pier where you can watch the prawn trawlers. Buy a bag of prawns to take away and enjoy later. You will also ride past other sights, such as the old lanes in Bukten, the Skagerack Cultural Centre, the beach promenade around Laholmen, etc. The path then follows Strömsvattnet and Kärleksudden, before turning back towards the town along Galärvägen, where Carolus XII dragged his 12 galley ships through forests and across lakes, all the way to Iddefjord.

Naturligtvis kan du även ladda ner GPX-filen din egen favoritapp. I receptionen säljer vi också en bra friluftskarta i skala 1: 50.000.

Vi använder den i första hand för vandring och stigcykling. Integrerar med Openstreetmap, som är väldigt bra uppdaterad i vårt område.
- Trailforks: Det här är stigcyklistens hemmaplan. Här samlas cyklister som gillar skogen. Gratis kartor för att lätt kunna se var det finns bra stigcykling.
- Strava: Den här appen har funnits med länge och i vårt område är det många användare. Därmed är den också bra uppdaterad med både landsvägscykling och mountainbiking förslag.

På Lagunen bor du precis där havet och Strömstads skärgård börjar. Här finns alltid något att upptäcka. Blir det en heldag i Strömstad, en båttur på Kosterhavet eller en lugn dag med krabbfiske på mage från Malis brygga, alldeles intill Lagunens badstrand? På Lagunen vaknar du till ljudet av vågornas skvalpande, måsarnas skrik och Kosterhavets havsbris som letar sig in i viken året runt – det är bara du som bestämmer när.
